Jag comes from a family of lawyers – with both his brother and father-in-law qualifying as barristers from Lincolns Inn in the 1950s.  His father-in-law, the late Harcharan Singh Bhogal, practised as a barrister for many years before moving to London from Kenya in the 1970s and setting up the practice of H Singh & Co in June 1978 in Southall. This became Singh Karran & Co in 1984 when Tom Kharran, a Guyanese solicitor, joined as a partner. In 2017, the firm of Singh Karran & Co was incorporated into Ardale Brown when Sumeet Shangari joined as a partner. Jag is married with 2 daughters, who both practise as solicitors with city firms.
